Personal Statement

I am a psychiatrist in the outpatient department of Weill Cornell Medicine, where I maintain an active faculty practice and care for patients with a range of conditions. I take a collaborative approach with patients when providing diagnostic evaluations, psychotherapy and medication. I strive to help my patients better understand the nature of their challenges while promoting the strengths that help them live meaningful and fulfilling lives. 

Biographical Info

Dr. Greenberg is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Assistant Attending Psychiatrist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He received his B.A. in chemistry from Princeton University, where he graduated magna cum laude, and his medical degree from the Yale School of Medicine. He completed his residency in psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Greenberg is a candidate in psychoanalysis at the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research, with clinical interests in psychodynamic psychotherapy and the treatment of anxiety, mood and personality disorders. He has received several awards for excellence in clinical care, including the Norma Bailey Berniker Prize.

Dr. Greenberg’s academic work focuses on improving psychiatric care through the education of psychiatry residents and other medical practitioners. As the Aaron Stern, M.D., Ph.D. Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Psychodynamic Psychiatry, he studies the integration of psychoanalytic principles in psychiatry residency education and across medical settings. At Weill Cornell Medicine, he directs the introductory course on psychiatric illness for psychiatry residents and co-teaches a course on psychoanalytic models of the mind. He has contributed to several educational resources for non-psychiatric providers, including EMRA’s nationally-distributed guide on psychiatric emergencies, and is currently studying how teaching psychodynamic concepts to primary care physicians can improve their management of challenging clinical encounters. Dr. Greenberg has authored numerous book chapters, journal articles and editorials and has been recognized nationally for his academic work as a Laughlin Fellow of the American College of Psychiatrists.
